Therapy, (THerəpē), noun, treatment intended to relieve or heal a disorder.
I am not sure I would call my addiction to ice cream a disorder, but last night I did get some reverse therapy to enable my addiction. While catching up with my wife on the couch, I had a ½ coffee mug full of Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Therapy. According to the carton, this is “Chocolate Ice Cream with Chocolate Cookies & Swirls of Chocolate Pudding Ice Cream.” Ummmm Yummmmm!
For the record, I am not a chocolate ice cream guy. I like it and all, but it just isn’t my go to flavor. Call me weird, call me “Whuuuuurong,” call me an id10t, I just prefer other base flavors. But this; this ice cream I had last night, is perhaps, quite possibly, the best Ben & Jerry’s flavor out there. Why would I say this? There are several reasons:
1. It’s perfectly simple: Often times, I find that B&J goes a little too overboard with their combinations. Other times they go too simple. This is the perfect balance; two similar, but different ice cream flavors, with one mix-in.
2. The Chocolate Cookies are not overbearing or overpowering: B&J did a nice job of making the cookies big enough to enjoy, yet small enough to not get in the way. I have never been a fan of cookies in my ice cream where you take a spoonful and out comes ¾ of an Oreo or some other cookie. Mind you, I love me some Oreos, but I want to taste the cookie and ice cream together; not one or more of the other. If I want a cookie ice cream sandwich, I would buy one. These guys really did a wonderful blend of cookie and ice cream. When I take a bite, I can feel and taste the cookie, but it dissipates quickly enough that I long for more.
3. I am eating this ice cream not chewing: Often with cookie ice creams, I find that I tend to have to chew the ice cream because of the cookie! What?!?!?! Seriously?!?!? I want to scoop ice cream on to my spoon and then lick said ice cream off the spoon in my mouth. There really should not be any chewing. If I wanted to chew I would eat a fucking steak. B&J got this one right, no chewing with this flavor.
4. The Chocolate Pudding Ice Cream is smooooooth: I don’t know about you all, but as a kid I remember my step-mother serving chocolate pudding for desert after Friday night dinner. I loved that stuff. It was creamy, chocolatey and delicious. I will always be a big fan. Imagine the smoothness of pudding blended efficiently with chocolate ice cream. It was like the best of both worlds. The only negative I have is that every now and then, I would take a spoonful that missed a pudding section. I was a little disappointed with that mouthful. When I did get the “Full Monty”, it was damn exciting and made me want to dip my spoon in once again for another taste.
Overall, Ben & Jerry’s made me more of a chocolate ice cream fan. This flavor is a can’t miss. It is “huuuuuge.” If you are like me and prefer other flavors, I dare you to try it and tell me it is not awesome. If someone were to do that…they must have burned off their fucking taste buds. If you are a chocolate fan and haven’t tried this, DO IT! If you have tried it, I say go buy some more!
Lastly, at the bottom of every post will be my F-Bomb counter. This will be a tally of every F-Bomb in each blog post, plus the total from all blog posts. Not sure what happens or what I will do when I hit some magic number I haven’t thought about. I am open to ideas.
Peace,
Scott
